As part of our annual concert in University of Calgary’s “Alchemy Festival”, we are excited to present three world premieres of new works by students of the UofC composition program as part of our annual Emerging Composers’ Program. In the same spirit, eleven (!) of Canada’s acclaimed living composers have written new works for us to premiere in this year-end concert: Arthur Bachmann, Allan Gordon Bell, Dorothy Chang, Derek Charke, Vincent Ho, Gary Kulesha, Larysa Kuzmenko, Alexina Louie, Maxime McKinley, Kelly-Marie Murphy, Donovan Seidle.
These were specially written in honour of Irene DeBoni, one of Calgary’s most enthusiastic supporters of Canadian composers and Land’s End Ensemble!
This one-of-a-kind project highlights the collaborative relationships we have had with each composer, some spanning almost 30 years. Rounding out our program is a special performance of Lera Auerbach’s Piano Trio No.2: Triptych.
