Piano Trio… more or less

November 30, 2013 8:00 pm
Piano Trio… more or less centers around violin, cello and piano, and the varying textures, timbres and sound worlds that can be created with these instruments in varying combinations. The program features a World Premiere exploring the relationship between the Piano Trio and Percussion by Canadian composer, Jordan Nobles, whose work has been described as “breathtakingly beautiful sounds”.

Also to be heard are Michael Oesterle’s piano trio, Centennials and Salvatore Sciarrino’s Piano Trio No. 2, two works that explore this important genre in beautiful and exciting, innovative ways. Alongside these works for trio, Beth Root Sandvoss and Susanne Ruberg-Gordon will conclude this diverse and exploratory program with the masterful Sonata No. 1 for Cello and Piano by Alfred Schnittke.
